A DNA methyltransferase inhibitor. Causes insufficient methylation. Inhibits Wnt-β-catenin signaling pathway and improves stem cell reprogramming efficiency. Exhibits antiviral, antiproliferative and anticancer effects.

Assay Description
Unmethylated CpG islands associated with multiple genes are partially or completely methylated in tumors and can be reactivated by 5-azacytidine [1]. 5-Azacytidine can affect the weak inducer of erythroid differentiation of Friend red leukemia cells in the same concentration range and affect the activity of DNA methyltransferase [2]. The ID50 and ID90 values of 5-azacytidine inhibiting L1210 cells were 0.019 and 0.15 μg/mL, respectively [3].

Assay Description
When animals were exposed to 5-Azacitidine (100 mg/kg, i.p.) for 2 hours or longer, TdR-3H incorporation was significantly inhibited [1].
