Cyclic Nucleotide-Gated Ion Channel Related Research Reagents

Cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels (CNG channels) are ion channels that function in response to cyclic nucleotide binding. CNG channels are a superfamily of voltage-gated ion channels found in the membranes of various tissues and cell types. They are very important in sensory transduction and cell development. Their functions may be the result of the combination of cyclic nucleotides (cGMP and cAMP) and depolarization or hyperpolarization events. The structure of the CNG channel is very complex, with various subunits and domains playing a vital role in its function. CNG channels are a part of various sensory pathways including vision and smell, as well as other key cellular functions such as hormone release and chemotaxis.
