Description
DiI is a lipophilic membrane stain that can diffuse laterally to stain entire cells. Before being incorporated into the membrane, its fluorescence is very weak. This orange-red fluorescent dye is similar in spectrum to tetramethylrhodamine and is commonly used as a long-term tracer for neurons and other cells. DiI can also be provided in the form of a solution, paste or solid.
