Description
It is widely used as an organic solvent for dissolving lipophilic substances.
Commonly used as a cryoprotectant for cryopreservation of stem cells.
DMSO activates retinoblastoma (Rb) protein and increases the proportion of cells in the early G1 phase of the cell cycle.
DMSO can improve the directed differentiation of many cell lines. DMSO enhances the ability of pluripotent stem cells (in more than 25 different embryos and induced pluripotent stem cell lines) to respond to differentiation signals, enhances differentiation of all germ layers and improves terminal differentiation into functional derivatives.
