Description
The HCN has four channels. The mammalian heart's pacemaker area has high levels of HCN4 expression. HCN4 is required for the heart pacing process and exhibits delayed activation and inactivation kinetics. This channel can also modify how the brain reacts to bitter stimuli. Sick sinus syndrome 2 is linked to mutations in this gene.
