Product Overview

Description

Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) hydrolyzes acetylcholine at synaptic junctions. Alternative mRNA splicing produces three forms of AChE. It plays a role in neuronal apoptosis. The T form, also called the asymmetric form, is soluble and exists in the synapse. The H form is also called globular and exists on the outer surface of the cell membrane. It is not known that the R form is a functional substance. The spherical subunit of AChE is anchored to the cell membrane by GPI, and the asymmetric subunit is anchored to the basal layer component by the collagen tail. The catalytic subunit of AChE is an oligomer composed of homodimers connected by disulfide bonds. In patients with Alzheimer's disease, AChE of the brain's cholinergic and non-cholinergic neurons is lost. However, AChE activity increases around amyloid plaques, which may be caused by disturbances in calcium homeostasis, including the opening of L-type voltage-dependent calcium channels.

Immunogen

The AChe antibody was produced by mice immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 587-611 amino acids in the C-terminal region of human AChe.
