Mycoplasma Testing

The cell line has been screened using the luciferase based mycoplasma detection kit to confirm the absence of mycoplasma species.

Sterility Testing

Sterility testing was performed in accordance with USP and EP regulations. All of our sterility testing is performed in an isolator or clean room environments. The cell line has been screened using the membrane filtration testing methods to confirm the absence of aerobic, anaerobic and fungi microorganisms.

Genetic Stability Testing

Cell genetic stability study was perfomed under ICH guidelines. We provide guidance on the appropriate testing program upon your requirements.

Q&As
How stable are BV-2 cells over multiple passages, and what is the recommended passage range for experiments?
BV-2 cells are relatively stable over multiple passages, but it is recommended to use cells within a passage range of 5-20 for most experiments to minimize variability and maintain cellular functionality. Beyond this range, there may be changes in cell behavior and responsiveness, so it is important to monitor the cells closely and periodically verify their characteristics through functional assays and marker expression.
Can BV-2 cells be genetically modified, and if so, what methods are commonly used?
Yes, BV-2 cells can be genetically modified using various methods such as transfection, lentiviral transduction, or CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. These techniques allow researchers to overexpress or knockdown specific genes to study their effects on microglial function and behavior. Genetic modification of BV-2 cells enables detailed investigations into the molecular mechanisms underlying microglial responses and the identification of potential therapeutic targets.
What are the advantages of using BV-2 cells for drug screening and testing?
BV-2 cells offer several advantages for drug screening and testing, including their ease of culture, reproducibility, and high-throughput capability. They provide a consistent and reliable model for assessing the effects of potential therapeutic compounds on microglial activation and function. Additionally, BV-2 cells can be used in various assays to evaluate cytotoxicity, anti-inflammatory properties, and neuroprotective effects, making them a valuable tool in the early stages of drug development.
