Description

Mouse Purkinje cells are isolated from the cerebellar cortex; the surface of the cerebellum is covered with a layer of gray matter, called the cerebellar cortex. . The cortex contains 5 types of neurons including stellate cells, basket cells, Purkinje cells, Golgi cells and granule cells. Axons from Purkinje cells constitute the only efferent fibers in the cerebellar cortex and terminate in nuclei in the cerebellar white matter. Purkinje cells are the only neurons that send out impulses from the cerebellar cortex. The human cerebellar cortex has about 15 million Purkinje cells. Purkinje cells are also widely distributed in the ventricle. The remarkable electrophysiological characteristics are strong conductivity and fast conduction velocity, which can reach 4000mm/s. It is a fast-response autonomic cell, which has the performance of automatic depolarization during diastole, so it has autonomic, but the intensity of autonomic is significantly lower than that of sinoatrial node P cells. Such cells are often arranged in parallel, and the intracellular resistance is low, only 1/3 of that of ventricular cells. Cerebellum: Purkinje cells are the largest neurons in the cerebellar cortex. The cell body is pear-shaped, with 2 to 3 thick main dendrites at the top, extending outward into the molecular layer. The main dendrites are profusely branched along the way, in the shape of an unfolded, flattened fan, spreading in a plane perpendicular to the long axis of the cerebellar lobe. There are a large number of dendritic spines on the dendritic branches, which form extensive synaptic connections with afferent fibers and receive all the information passed into the cerebellum. Axons originate from the bottom of the cell (opposite to the main dendrites), are elongated, and form myelinated nerve fibers not far from the cell body. inner nerve nuclei. The axons of a Purkinje cell form about 500 terminal enlargements and synapse with about 35 neurons in the deep nuclei of the cerebellum. Cardiac Purkinje cells are often arranged in parallel, and several cells are connected to each other by the serosa in a small bundle that surrounds the basement membrane. There are few myofibrils in the cells, and the cytoplasmic area is full of glycogen granules, mitochondria and sarcoplasmic reticulum, and the intracellular resistance is low, only 1/3 of that of ventricular cells. There is no transverse tube system in Purkinje cells, but the membrane capacitance is larger than that of contractile cells, which may be due to the extensive and complex structure of intercalated discs, which provide a larger surface area. The main components of Purkinje cell intercalated discs are gap junctions, with a small proportion of granulosa membranes, which may be the morphological basis for the rapid conduction of Purkinje cells.
