inquiryDescription
The protein encoded by S100A8 is a member of the S100 protein family, which contains two EF hand calcium binding motifs. S100 protein is located in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a large number of cells, and participates in the regulation of many cell processes, such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. The S100 gene includes at least 13 members arranged in clusters on chromosome 1q21. This protein can play a role in the inhibition of casein kinase and as a cytokine. Changes in the expression of this protein are related to the disease cystic fibrosis (provided by RefSeq, July 2008).
The mouse anti-human S100A8 antibody can detect a band of 11 kDa. This antibody has been extensively validated by immunoblotting using whole cell lysates.
