Description
Mouse anti-human superoxide dismutase (Cu-Zn) antibodies recognize superoxide dismutase (Cu-Zn), also known as SOD1. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is a class of enzymes that catalyze the disproportionation of superoxide into oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. Therefore, they are important antioxidant defenses in almost all cells exposed to oxygen. According to the metal cofactors, there are three main superoxide dismutase families: Cu-Zn (combined with copper and zinc), Fe and Mn types (combined with iron or manganese), and finally Ni type, combined with nickel.
The mouse anti-human superoxide dismutase (Cu-Zn) antibody detected a 16 kDa band of SOD1 in a series of human cell line lysates. Cross-reactivity with rodent cell lines was also observed.
