inquiryDescription
Galectins are a family of β-galactoside-binding proteins that participate in the regulation of cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The protein encoded by LGALS9 gene is S-type lectin. It is overexpressed in Hodgkin's disease tissues and may be involved in the interaction between H&RS cells and surrounding cells, so it may play a role in the pathogenesis of this disease and/or related immune deficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants of LGALS9 have been discovered (provided by RefSeq, July 2008).
Mouse anti-human galectin-9 antibody detects a 40 kDa band. The antibody has been extensively validated by Western blot using whole cell lysates.
