Product Overview

Description

AKT (Protein Kinase B, PKB) is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a key role in regulating cell survival, insulin signaling, angiogenesis, and tumor formation. AKT-AKT1, 2 and 3 have three isoforms, also known as PKBα, β and γ). More and more evidences show that AKT1, 2 and 3 play a unique role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer. The frequency of amplification or overexpression of AKT2 in cancer is higher than that found in AKT1. AKT2 is also closely related to type II diabetes and plays a key role in the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Akt/mammalian target of the rapamycin (PI3K/mTOR) signal axis. The dysregulation of AKT2 is related to the acquisition of stem cell-like properties, which are responsible for aggressiveness and tumor progression, metastatic spread, and chemoresistance.
