Product Overview

Description

Fibrillin is a highly conserved component of mammalian nucleolar small ribonucleoprotein complex, which is involved in the processing of ribosomal RNA during ribosomal biogenesis. The protein runs at ~35kDa on SDS-PAGE and is rich in basic amino acids with a PI of 9.8. Fibrillin was first discovered in humans because of autoantibodies that stain nucleoli in some scleroderma patients with autoimmune diseases (1). It was subsequently discovered that the protein fibrillin is a human homolog of Nop1p (a Saccharomyces cerevisiae nucleolar protein), and the two proteins are 67% identical (2,3).

Immunogen

Recombinant full-length human fibrillin sequence expressed and purified in E. coli.
