Product Overview

Description

Astrocytes constitute 20-40% of the total number of cells in the mammalian brain and they play multifaceted and vital roles in maintaining neurophysiological function of the central nervous system (CNS) by regulating homeostasis, increasing synaptic plasticity, and sustaining neuroprotective effects. Increasingly evidence suggests astrocytes play a critical role in neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury (SCI). Rat astrocytes are a useful in vitro model for exploring its function and the molecular mechanisms of SCI.

Primary rat astrocytes from Creative Biolabs are isolated from the rat spinal cord and can be used to study its function of and how nerve cells interact in SCI.
