Description
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), such as nerve growth factor (NGF), neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) and Neurotrophin-4 (NT-4), are members of the NGF family of neurotrophins and are neurotrophic factors Required. Differentiation and survival of specific neuronal subpopulations in the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. BDNF binds to the TRKB kinase receptor with high affinity and activates the AKT and ERK pathways. It is expressed in the hippocampus, cortex and synapse of the basal forebrain. BDNF regulates the synaptic transmission and plasticity of adult synapses in the central nervous system and contributes to adaptive neuronal responses, including long-term enhancement, long-term depression, certain forms of short-term synaptic plasticity, and steady-state regulation of neuronal excitability. It also plays a role in neurogenesis by promoting the survival and growth of dorsal root ganglion cells and hippocampal and cortical neurons. Together with glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and other supplements, BDNF is commonly used to differentiate neural progenitor cells derived from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC) into neurons.
