Description
Alpha-synuclein is a neuronal protein that plays an important role in presynaptic signal transduction and membrane transport. It is a soluble, naturally unfolded protein with an extended structure composed mainly of random coils. It aggregates and interacts with other proteins (such as synphilin-1), thereby inducing neuronal cytotoxicity in Parkinson's disease.
