Description

The rhythmic spontaneous activity of the heart and central nervous system is influenced by hyperpolarized activated cyclic nucleotide modulation (HCN) channels. Interfering with HCN2 activity can result in a variety of arrhythmias because the sinus node is dysfunctional. The stabilisation of the typical diastolic membrane potential may be HCN2's primary function in these cells.
