Microglia represent the main immune cells in the central nervous system (CNS), and their functions are similar to macrophages. Microglia are involved in the synaptic organization, vegetative neuron support during development, phagocytosis of apoptotic cells in the developing brain, remyelination, control of neuronal excitability, phagocytic debris removal, and brain protection and repair. Since microglia play a key role in neuroinflammation, such as brain and spinal cord injury, ischemic stroke, infection and neurodegenerative diseases, detailed cellular biological exploration of microglia is therefore of pivotal importance.
Creative Biolabs provides a variety of ready-to-use stem cell-derived microglia cell lines of mouse, rat, rhesus macaque and human origin. Our rat microglia are ideal for studying aging and age-related neurodegeneration diseases and other diseases.
Since many of the tools currently used to study microglia cannot distinguish between microglia and central nervous system macrophages, this limitation has triggered a new wave of innovation in tools for studying microglia in vivo and in vitro. Creative Biolabs, for the first time, is able to specifically manipulate a single glial cell type and provides a novel cell culture tool to achieve the optimal primary cell isolation while maintaining the survival of glial cells without any fundamental function change.
