Overview of Neurodegenerative Disorders (NDs)
NDs are a broad class of disorders characterized by the progressive loss of disease-specific neural population and they include Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and spinal cord injury. NDs are often due to misfolding of physiological proteins in both neural and glial cells. Gradual dysfunction of synapses, neurons, and glial cells, dementia, cognitive decline, brain function variations, and movement disorders are the early indicators of NDs.
Target Selection for NDs
The growing number of identified targets enlarges the range of potential clinical applications. However, many therapeutic agents and their related targets offer nothing beyond symptomatic relief and do not address the underlying pathology. It is therefore urgently necessary to identify promising pathogenic targets for gene therapy of NDs. Creative Biolabs can provide a range of mechanism of action (MoA) studies to help screen potential therapeutic targets for NDs.

A variety of chronic progressive central nervous system disorders triggered by deterioration and eventual loss of neurons are implicated in neurodegenerative diseases. Parkinson's disease, well-characterized by loss of dopaminergic nigrostriatal neurons; Huntington's disease, which causes loss of spiny, medium-sized striatal neurons; and Alzheimer's disease induced by diffuse brain atrophy, are all generally known as NDs.
