Tissue Sections
Tissue sections are thin slices of tissue that have been sliced thinly and mounted on a slide for examination and analysis under a microscope. These sections are typically used in research, diagnosis, and teaching to study the structure, function, and composition of different tissues in the body. Tissue sections can be prepared from various types of tissues, including skin, muscle, organs, and tumors, and can be stained with different dyes to highlight specific structures or cells.

Product Overview
Frozen Tissue Sections High-grade brain coronal frozen tissue sections from 14 regions (as illustrated above). Fresh brain tissues are typically flash frozen in OCT without the use of any type of fixative. The tissue sections are about 10 µm in thickness and mounted on positively charged glass slides (2 sections per slide). Additional brain coronal frozen sections from samples perfused with PFA or formalin are available for study upon request. |
Paraffin Tissue Sections High-grade brain coronal paraffin tissue sections from 14 regions (as illustrated above). Normally, brain tissues are fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin and processed for paraffin embedding. The tissue sections are about 5 µm in thickness and mounted on positively charged glass slides (2 sections per slide). Brain coronal paraffin tissue sections of mice perfused with 4% PFA are also available upon request. |
Applications
- Histological analysis: Histological analysis involves studying the structure and organization of tissues under a microscope. Tissue sections are stained with dyes that highlight specific structures within the tissue, such as cell membranes, nuclei, and cytoplasm. By examining these stained sections, researchers can gain valuable insights into the organization of different cell types within a tissue, as well as any abnormalities or changes that may be present.
- Immunohistochemistry: Immunohistochemistry is a technique that uses antibodies to identify specific proteins within tissues. Tissue sections are treated with antibodies that bind to the target protein, and then visualized using a secondary antibody that is linked to a detection molecule, such as an enzyme or fluorophore. This allows researchers to identify the presence of specific proteins within a tissue sample and can be used to study the expression patterns of proteins neurotransmitters, and other molecules in neurons, astrocytes, microglia, and other neural cells in the brain, providing insights into the molecular basis of neurological disorders.
