Description

This cell line is derived from the multipotent adrenal cortex carcinoma cell line NCI-H295, which was established by GazdarAF and others and isolated from adrenal cortex tumors. NCI-H295 cells obtained NCI-295R cells by changing the culture conditions, and the population doubling time was reduced from 5 days to 2 days. NCI-295 cells grow in suspension, while NCI-H295R grows adherently in a single layer. NCI-H295R cells retain the ability to produce androgens and respond to angiotensin II and potassium ions.
