inquiryDescription
Mitogen-activated protein kinase 9 is encoded by the MAPK9 (JNK2) gene and is a member of the MAP kinase family. MAP kinase acts as an integration point for a variety of biochemical signals and participates in a variety of cellular processes, such as proliferation, differentiation, transcriptional regulation and development. The kinase targets specific transcription factors to mediate early gene expression in response to various cellular stimuli. It is most related to MAPK8. MAPK8 is all related to cell apoptosis induced by ultraviolet radiation and is believed to be related to the cell death pathway mediated by cytochrome c. MAPK9 and MAPK8 are also called c-Jun N-terminal kinases. This kinase blocks the ubiquitination of the tumor suppressor p53, thus increasing the stability of p53 in non-stressed cells. Studies of the mouse counterpart of MAPK9 have shown that it plays a key role in T cell differentiation. Several transcript variants encoding alternative splicing of different isoforms have been reported (provided by RefSeq, September 2008).
Mouse anti-human MAPK9 antibody can detect a 54 kDa band. The antibody has been extensively validated by Western blot using whole cell lysates.
