Product Overview

Description

Heat shock proteins are found because they are severely upregulated when cells are subjected to a temperature pressure higher than the normal physiological range. They are also expressed in unstressed cells and have normal functions as partners, helping other proteins to fold correctly, but if the cells or tissues are stressed by heat, more numbers are needed. HSP27 is a rich and ubiquitously expressed member of this protein family. It also has other functions, such as controlling apoptosis, which is mediated through interaction with cytochrome C that promotes apoptosis. The MCA-6H11 antibody was prepared against purified full-length recombinant human HSP27 protein and used on Western blots and on cells grown in culture. HSP27 is not completely conserved across species boundaries, so among the 204-209 amino acids, there are 159 amino acid identities among humans, cattle, rats, and mice.
