Product Overview

Description

Ocular diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy are the result of the gradual deterioration of eye tissue leading to loss of vision. The retinal pigment epithelium is composed of a layer of pigment cells located outside the neurosensory retina, which provides nutrients for vision, photoreceptors. The functions of cells include phagocytosing the outer segment of the photoreceptor damaged by light, secreting the necessary factors and signal molecules to maintain the steady state of the retina, absorbing scattered light and preventing photo-oxidation.

In order to provide researchers with a Human cell model system to understand basic eye biology and develop treatments for eye diseases, Creative Biolabs now offers iNeu® retinal pigment epithelial cells. iNeu Retinal Pigment Epithelial Cells are a high-purity research grade retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cell population derived from Human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells and can be obtained in commercial quantities.

Features

The cell line promises during cryopreservation that the cells mature within 1 month in vitro
≥90% (PMEL17, TYRP1) The pure population of immature RPE markers at the time of thawing
>80% (BEST1, CRALBP) pure populations get more mature RPE markers 4 weeks after thawing
Marker expression pattern is characteristic of mature RPE cells
The expected shape evolves over time
Shows powerful functions within a few weeks after thawing
Increase in transepithelial resistance (TEER) over time
Phagocytic activity (contact us for relevant data)
