Description
Voltage-gated calcium channels called N-type calcium channels, sometimes referred to as Cav2.2 channels, are mostly found on nerve terminals, dendrites, and neuroendocrine cells. The fact that N-type calcium channels are found at the terminals of synapses makes them crucial for neurotransmitter release. There is proof that the Cav2.2 channel is crucial in numerous pain disorders for encouraging increased excitability and neurotransmitter release.
