Description

T-type calcium channels control neuronal excitability and have a significant role in the perception of pain. The primary subtype of the CaV3.2 channel, which is present in both peptidergic and non-peptidergic neurons, is emerging as a viable target for the treatment of pain. Numerous studies have demonstrated that in various inflammatory and neuropathic pain models, CaV3.2 expression and/or activity is markedly elevated in spinal dorsal horn and dorsal root ganglion neurons.
