Product Overview

Description

The excitability of neurons, skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, and smooth muscle, as well as the regulation of cell volume, transepithelial salt transport, and acidification of intracellular and extracellular compartments, are all regulated by chloride ion channels, a series of anion selective channels. The CFTR gene produces the membrane protein and chloride channel known as the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) in vertebrates. The pancreas, intestinal tissues, sweat glands, and respiratory system all express CFTR ion channels. These tissues' surface expression or diminished function of mutant channels is congruent with the signs and symptoms of the illness.
