Description
Rat anti-Mouse Interleukin-6 antibody, recognizes mouse Interleukin 6 (IL-6), also known as B-cell hybridoma growth factor or Interleukin HP-1. IL-6 is an effective lymphoid cell growth factor mainly expressed by macrophages and T cells. IL-6 is an effective inducer of acute phase reactions. Animals lacking IL-6 show a significant reduction in pro-inflammatory Th17 cell production (Ivanov et al., 2006). In humans, the disruption of IL-6 gene may lead to the appearance of systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (RASJ), which is an inflammatory joint disease characterized by daily episodes of fever, macular rash, lymphadenopathy, liver and spleen Swelling, serositis, myalgia and arthritis.
