Description
Kv1.3 is widely expressed in the CNS and immune-related tissues and cells, including the tonsils, spleen, T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, and macrophages. In oligodendrocytes and lymphocytes, Kv1.3 controls the calcium signal and resting membrane potential. Immunosuppressive drugs that target this ion channel include Kv1.3 inhibitors, which have been shown to be successful in treating multiple sclerosis by delaying the disease's progression.
