Description
Mouse anti-human neurofilament antibody can recognize neurofilament, also known as light molecular weight neurofilament protein, neurofilament light polypeptide, neurofilament protein, light chain, neurofilament subunit NF-L, neurofilament triad L protein, neurofilament, Light polypeptide 68kDa and protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 110. Neurofilament is a type IV intermediate filament heteropolymer composed of light chain, medium chain and heavy chain. Neurofilaments include an axoskeleton and functionally maintain the caliber of neurons. They may also play a role in intracellular transport to axons and dendrites. The NEFL gene encodes light chain neurofilament protein. Mutations in NEFL can cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1F (CMT1F) and type 2E (CMT2E), which are diseases of the peripheral nervous system characterized by obvious neuropathy.
