Product Overview

Description

Aldolase is an important glycolytic cytoplasmic enzyme that can catalyze the reversible conversion of fructose 1,6-diphosphate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate. There are three aldolase isoenzymes coded by three different genes in mammals, namely aldolase A, B and C. Aldolase A is abundantly expressed in muscle enzymes, and aldolase B is expressed abundantly in the liver, which is regarded as a liver-specific enzyme (1-5). In adults, aldolase C is a brain-specific isoenzyme expressed in astrocytes and several types of neurons, especially Purkinje cells (4). Therefore, appropriate aldolase C antibodies can be used to identify astrocytes in cell cultures and slice materials, and the enzyme may be overexpressed in some forms of cancer (6).
