Product Overview

Description

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in astrocytes, Bergmann glial cells and certain other glial cells in the central nervous system, satellite cells of peripheral ganglia, and non-myelinating Schwann cells of peripheral nerves Strongly and specifically expressed (1-3). GFAP expression is also present in developing neural stem cells, and GFAP levels may be greatly increased in CNS damaged or diseased areas (4), and point mutations in the GFAP gene are the cause of Alexander disease (5). Antibodies against GFAP, such as MCA-2A5, can be used to visualize glial cells and monitor CNS changes related to development, disease, and injury. This antibody has been shown to work well on human western blot, IF, ICC and IHC.
