Aβ1-42 Toxicity Assay

Assay Description

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most devastating neurodegenerative diseases. Amyloid β peptide (Aβ) aggregation into cytotoxic oligomers and fibrils is one of the main signs of AD. These pathological deposits in the brain are considered to be one of the main reasons for the observed progressive cognitive decline in AD patients.

Interference with Aβ aggregation is an inevitable strategy for the development of new treatments. A reliable in vitro model is needed that can show the direct effect of the compound on the formation of Aβ oligomers, thereby having a beneficial effect on cell viability.
