Description

Mouse anti-rat neurofilament M antibody, clone 3H11 recognizes the carboxy terminus of rat neurofilament M (NF-M), which is one of three neurofilament proteins (NF-H, NF-M and NF-L). Neurofilaments are the 10nm intermediate filaments found in neurons. The concentration along the axon is particularly high. They seem to control the diameter of the axon. It is believed that the phosphorylation of NF-M leads to the formation of interfilament bridges, which are important for maintaining axon caliber. The mouse anti-rat neurofilament M antibody, clone 3H11, also binds to the C-terminal epitope of bovine NF-M between 842 and 926.
