Product Overview

Description

Calcium (Ca2+) signaling in neurons is essential for cell signaling. It defines the cell's ability to release neurotransmitters to regulate intracellular signaling pathways. Calbindin 2 (also called calretinin) is one of the Ca2+ binding proteins involved in Ca2+ signaling, which can promote the diffusion of cytoplasmic Ca2+ without interfering with Ca2+ signaling. The protein encoded by this gene is a neuronal calcium-binding protein that binds to and modulates the function of at least two receptors, adenosine A(2A) receptor and metabotropic glutamate receptor type 5.
