Description

When combined with 25 ml of foetal bovine serum (FBS) and the Microglial Cell development Supplement (MCGS, Cat. No. NCL-21P6-125), a complete medium called Microglial Cell Medium (MM) is created for optimum in vitro development of normal microglia. It is a sterile liquid medium that includes vitamins, trace minerals, essential and non-essential amino acids, organic and inorganic chemicals, hormones, growth factors, and foetal bovine serum at a low concentration (5%). When the medium is equilibrated in an incubator with a 5% CO2/95% air environment, it is HEPES and bicarbonate buffered and has a pH of 7.4. The medium is designed (quantitatively and qualitatively) to offer a nutritional environment that is perfectly balanced and to specifically support the in vitro development of healthy microglia.
