Product Overview

Description

Nuclear pores form a barrier between the nucleus and cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells, allowing regulation of the inflow and outflow of proteins and RNA. They consist of a family of nucleoporins called nucleoporins, which have about 30 members in humans (1,2). This monoclonal antibody is cultured by injecting yeast nuclear preparations into mice and screening the resulting hybridomas by immunofluorescence on yeast cells. MCA-39C7 is one of a series of clones that strongly and specifically label the nuclear pore complex. When this antibody is tested on cells from other species (including rat, mouse, and human cells), it always stains the nuclear pore complex strongly, so it seems to be an excellent generalization of these important structures. Specific markers. We noticed that the Mab 414 antibody described by Davis and Blobel has very similar properties (3). MCA-39C7 performs Western blot analysis on mammalian cells that bind to a protein of approximately 62kDa, but we are currently uncertain about the exact identity of the protein.
