Description

Chromogranin A is a precursor of several functional peptides, including vasostatin-1, vasostatin-2, pancreatin, catestatin and parastatin. These peptides negatively regulate the neuroendocrine function of released cells (autocrine) or nearby cells (paracrine).

Chromogranin A induces and promotes the production of secretory particles, such as insulin-containing particles in pancreatic beta cells.
