Description

The Astrocyte Isolation Starter Kit provides a complete solution for the isolation and isolation of GLAST+ astrocytes from rats or mice below postnatal day 7.
The Astrocyte Isolation Starter Kit includes the Neural Tissue Dissociation Kit (T), which ensures that GLAST epitopes are preserved during the isolation step. The Anti-GLAST (ACSA-1) MicroBead Kit isolates GLAST-positive rat or mouse astrocytes.
Antibody ACSA-1 (astrocyte surface antigen 1) recognizes the extracellular epitope of the astrocyte-specific transmembrane glycoprotein GLAST. Besides GLT-1, GLAST is the most abundant glutamate transporter and is predominantly expressed by astrocytes in the developing and neonatal mammalian CNS. Radial glial cells, which are known to belong to the astrocytic lineage and play an important role in development, express GLAST.
