Product Overview

Description

The potassium voltage-gated channel KCNQ5, a member of the KQT-like subfamily, is encoded by the KCNQ5 gene (also known as Kv7.5). This gene, which is found in both the brain and skeletal muscle, belongs to the KCNQ potassium channel gene family. When depolarization occurs, the current produced by the protein encoded by this gene slowly activates, and it can combine with the protein represented by the KCNQ3 gene to form a heteromerization channel. Both the M current and the current expressed by this protein are voltage- and inhibitor-dependent. M1 muscarinic receptor activation also inhibits them. For this gene, many transcript variants have been found that encode various isotypes.
