Product Overview

Description

Nestin is a member of the class IV intermediate filament protein family expressed in neuroepithelial stem cells, which is also the origin of the name of nestin. Nestin was originally identified by producing a series of monoclonal antibodies against epitopes expressed on rat spinal cord tissue on day 15 of formalin-fixed embryos (1). One of the antibodies, called Rat 401, stains fiber distribution in the developing nervous system, but does not stain in the mature nervous system. Screening of phage expression libraries by using Rat 401 antibody, Lendahl et al. (2) The cDNA encoding the protein binding to rat 401 antibody can be isolated.

Immunogen

The recombinant construct, amino acids 317-630 of human protein was expressed in E. coli and purified from E. coli.
