Product Overview

Description

The development of the central nervous system includes the development of the brain, spinal cord, optic nerve and auditory system. In the neural tube, stem cells produce two major types The cells that make up most of the nervous system: neurons and glia. Both types of cells differentiate into many different types with highly specialized functions and shapes. The development of the peripheral and central nervous system begins in the early stages of embryogenesis and can be tracked by using lineage antibodies specific to each stage of neuron development. This gene encodes a member of the intermediate filament protein family and is expressed primarily in nerve cells. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
