Description

The ENaC/Deg (epithelial amiloride-sensitive Na+ channel and degenerin) ion channel family, which includes acid-sensitive ion channels (ASIC), is widely expressed in neurons in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Acid Sensing Ion Channel Subunit 3 (ASIC3) is a gene that codes for a protein. The conditions femoral cancer and frozen shoulder are linked to ASIC3. The member that this gene encodes is an acid sensor that could be crucial in identifying ongoing pH fluctuations.
