Description

Thy-1 can be used as a marker for axon processes in various stem cells and mature neurons. The structural study of Thy-1 led to the establishment of the immunoglobulin superfamily, which is the smallest member, and led to some preliminary biochemical descriptions and characterization of vertebrate GPI anchors, and also the first demonstration of tissue-specific differential glycosylation.
