Cortical glutamatergic neurons have high neuronal purity (>90%), mainly including excitatory neurons. Labeling with the pan-neuronal marker MAP2 highlights the neuronal purity of these cells. Labeling with glutamatergic specific markers CTIP2 and TBR1 indicates the overwhelming presence of glutamatergic neurons.

Morphology

Cortical glutamatergic neurons showed a large number of neurite outgrowth and were adherent within one week of culture. Calcein staining shows the characteristic oval cell shape and long protrusions of cortical glutamatergic neurons in culture.
