Description
Mouse anti-human CD11b antibody recognizes CD11b, also known as integrin α-M, CD11 antigen-like family member B, CR-3α chain, cell surface glycoprotein MAC-1 subunit α, leukocyte adhesion receptor MO1, giant Phage antigen α polypeptide or neutrophil adhesion receptor α-M subunit.
The ITGAM gene encodes the integrin αM chain. Integrin is a heterodimeric whole membrane protein composed of α chain and β chain. This alpha integrin containing the I domain binds to the beta 2 chain (ITGB2) to form a leukocyte-specific integrin, called macrophage receptor 1 ('Mac-1') or inactivated C3b (iC3b) receptor 3. ('CR3'). αM beta 2 integrin is important in the adhesion of neutrophils and monocytes to stimulated endothelial cells and the phagocytosis of complement-coated particles. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been discovered for ITGAM.
