Product Overview

Description

The Ki67 protein was first discovered when researchers tried to produce cancer cell-specific monoclonal antibodies by injecting nuclear preparations of Hodgkin's lymphoma cells into mice (1). They obtained a monoclonal antibody that can recognize two large proteins with apparent molecular weights of 345kDa and 395kDa. The clone was named Ki67 after the initial work was completed in Kiel, Germany, and the 96-well plate where the clone was found. It was found that these two proteins are expressed in large amounts in proliferating cells, but not in resting cells. Later work showed that they are the products of a single gene. The presence of Ki67 protein is often used as an indicator of cell proliferation, and its expression level is one of the most reliable biomarkers of cancer cell proliferation status (2-5).

Immunogen

A recombinant construct containing amino acids 956-1322 of the mouse sequence XP_006507475, expressed in E. coli and purified from E. coli.
