Epilepsy related Cell Products

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by abnormal discharges from nerve cells in the brain, resulting in unpredictable seizures. There are approximately 65 million people with epilepsy worldwide, of whom approximately 35% do not respond to traditional antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), making the development of new treatments an urgent priority. Although current treatments include medication and surgery, a large number of patients still face drug resistance and reduced quality of life. Therefore, new treatment strategies based on cell therapy are receiving increasing attention.

In vitro cell models play an important role in epilepsy research. For example, neurons derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) can be cultured on microelectrode arrays (MEAs) to simulate neural network activity under normal and stressed conditions, and to study acute and chronic epileptic behavior by inducing epileptiform activity with kainic acid. In addition, the Modular Epilepsy Model (MEMO) is an advanced epilepsy chip model that can more accurately study the initiation, propagation and termination of epileptic seizures. These models provide important tools for drug discovery and disease mechanism research.

Our in vitro cell products provide an important platform for research and development of new treatment strategies by simulating the molecular and cellular mechanisms of epileptic seizures. These products not only help to elucidate the pathophysiology of epilepsy but can also be used to screen potential therapeutic drugs, thereby accelerating the development of new therapies. At the same time, our products are helping researchers explore the potential use of stem cell therapy in the treatment of epilepsy.

Neural Cells Derived from Epilepsy iPSCs

iPSC technology has great potential for epilepsy research and treatment. By reprogramming patient skin fibroblasts or peripheral blood mononuclear cells into iPSCs and then differentiating them into neurons, we can create highly personalized epilepsy models for studying disease mechanisms, drug screening and developing new treatments.

Our epilepsy-derived iPSC neural cell products use advanced reprogramming technology to generate iPSCs from patient-derived skin samples and differentiate them into highly physiologically active neurons. These neurons are able to simulate the molecular and cellular pathological characteristics of epilepsy, providing a unique opportunity to study the complexity of epilepsy.
