Product Overview

Description

β-NGF is a member of the neurotrophin family, which controls the growth, survival and maturation of neurons. In peripheral and central neurons, neurotrophin is an important regulator of nerve cell survival, differentiation and maintenance. They can be detected throughout the embryogenesis and adult stages of the central and peripheral nervous systems. In animal models, β-NGF can prevent neuronal degeneration and has become a therapeutic target in neuron regeneration research. β-NGF is also essential for the survival and maintenance of sympathetic and sensory neurons. It is the main neurotrophin that maintains the homeostasis of neurogenesis. It prevents neuronal apoptosis and promotes maturation while supporting axon branching. Two receptors are known to interact with NGF, p75NTR and TrkA. The NGF-TrkA signaling pathway induces two pathways by activating PI3K-Akt or Ras-MAPK. Either way can lead to CREB phosphorylation and increase the expression of anti-apoptotic genes to maintain the vitality of neurons. Animal models of neurodegenerative diseases show that NGF can promote the repair of myelin sheaths of neurons in the peripheral nervous system. Clinical studies have shown that abnormal NGF signaling is related to Alzheimer's disease.
