Learning and Memory Modeling and Drug Efficacy Testing Service

Disease Mechanism

The mental activities and mental states of people and animals cannot be directly observed. To study how these activities occur, scientists can only speculate based on observable responses to stimuli. The study of memory processes in the brain can only measure the operational performance or reaction time of humans or animals at certain intervals after learning or performing a certain task, thereby measuring the encoding form, storage, and retention time of these processes and their dependent conditions, etc. The basis of learning and memory experimental methods is conditioned reflex, from which various methods are derived.

Learning and Memory Modeling

Classification Modeling Method Animals
Learning and Memory model Acquired memory impairment Mouse
Poor memory consolidation Mouse
Memory retrieval disorder Mouse

1) The mechanism of anticholinergic drugs affecting memory is relatively clear, the results are accurate and easy to repeat, and there is no obvious non-specific effect. It is ideal to use such drugs to create a memory acquisition disorder model.

2) Memory consolidation disorder commonly used methods include electroshock, hypoxia, and administration of protein synthesis inhibitors.

Assays after Modeling

  • Cognitive function testing

Creative Biolabs offers a variety of well-accepted behavioral tests to assess potential anxiolytic, antidepressant, or antipsychotic effects, as well as cognitively enhancing and disruptive effects on learning and memory (cognitive, psychiatric, neurological). We have developed a comprehensive range of rat primary neuronal culture models and assays to evaluate the neurotoxic, neuroprotective, or neurotrophic effects of test compounds (cellular models).

In addition to the above tests, we can also provide MRI/PET-CT in vivo imaging of small animals, cardiac ultrasound, X-ray films, tissue fluorescence imaging (whole brain slide scan, tissue immunofluorescence imaging), patch clamp on cells and brain slices, multi-channel in vivo electrophysiological recordings, respiration recordings, behavioral testing of pain, anxiety, depression, olfactory function-related (go/no-go) in awake animals.
